Vice President of Exploration - Barrick South America (Chile)

In this position, he is responsible for leading exploration activities throughout Latin America including projects in Chile, Argentina and Peru.

His over 20 year career experience has been devoted entirely to economic geology and mineral exploration, mainly in the gold mining business. Raul joined the Company when Barrick acquired Lac Minerals in 1994.

Early in his career, his principal responsibilities were in the areas of Mining Operations including the El Indio property mines in Chile. Subsequent to this, he was primarily focused on Exploration in the Andean countries of Peru, Chile and Argentina, but also including near mine exploration at Barrick’s producing mines .

He has an outstanding record of deposit discoveries and his major achievements include the participation and leadership of the teams which discovered Pascua Lama (Chile 1994), Lagunas Norte (Peru 2001), Monte Oculto (Dominican Republic 2006), Luciano - Casale (Chile 2012), Alturas (Chile 2015).

Raul has a geology degree from Universidad de Chile.
